Open design competition on desall.com for a new eyewear line by Luxottica.

The brief stipulated that:

• the design had to be based on a new hinge construction that Luxottica holds a patent for
• the frame had to be made of 0.5mm sheet metal
• the design should comprise a sun and a prescription line, or be viable for both uses

Despite a meagre price sum, the competition yielded 280 entries.
To be hoped that this does not represent the future of design...
